Science Teacher (Grade 8) at KIPP WAYS Academy
Shatema Paige (she/her) is an Atlanta native and an 8th-grade Physical Science educator at KIPP WAYS Academy. She specializes in designing innovative, data-driven lessons that engage students, foster critical thinking, and drive measurable academic growth.
Growing up without a clear role model for her aspirations, Shatema found motivation in knowing what she didn’t want to become. This experience fueled her passion for serving the same community she comes from. She is dedicated to helping her Black and Brown scholars embrace pride in their heritage while recognizing the vast opportunities that lie ahead.
Shatema’s passion for teaching stems from a deep desire to inspire and uplift Black students by sparking in them a love for science that mirrors her own. Guided by the principles of equity, excellence, and empowerment, she is committed to providing every student with a supportive, high-quality education that challenges them to exceed their own expectations. Through a culture of accountability, inclusivity, and collaboration, she strives to empower her scholars to become leaders in their communities.
In her classroom, Shatema cultivates a passion for learning by creating a welcoming and dynamic environment where students feel valued, inspired, and capable of achieving greatness.
