Kindergarter Teacher at PEACE Academy Charter School
Vanessa Taylor is a dedicated kindergarten teacher at PEACE Academy Charter, Georgia’s first Afrocentric school. At PEACE Academy, she embraces a culturally rich Afrocentric curriculum designed to empower and uplift African American students by celebrating their heritage and fostering a strong sense of pride and identity.
With 20 years of experience in education, Vanessa has spent seven years teaching in the classroom and the remainder in various administrative roles within Chicago Public Schools. Her administrative experience includes managing school payroll, serving as a principal’s assistant, and supervising paraprofessional staff. Throughout her career, she has worked with student populations that were 100% African American, deepening her understanding of their unique needs and strengths.
Vanessa believes that teaching kindergarten is a profound responsibility that extends beyond academics. She is passionate about fostering a love of learning, nurturing self-confidence, and creating a space where every child feels valued, seen, and celebrated. As an African American educator, she is deeply committed to serving as a role model who inspires her students to embrace their heritage, take pride in their identity, and dream without limits.
For Vanessa, education is more than a career—it is a calling. She is dedicated to creating equitable and affirming spaces that plant the seeds of confidence, pride, and a culture of success in the next generation.
